The Pride of Houston Holly
Pride of Houstom Holly is an improved selection of our native Yaupon. It tolerates our hot dry summers with relative ease but it will flourish under ideal conditions. It has a better branching structure, is more upright and uniform in it's growth habit, than the original. It is usually a multi-trunked, medium sized grower with light gray bark.
Pride of Houston has small white flowers in the spring but the real attraction is the abundant fruit set of translucent red berries in the fall. They stay on during the winter, attracting birds and wildlife as a food source.
This Yaupon is an all-female cultivar, guaranteeing berries every season !
