Creekside Nursery

Mother Nature Doesn’t Stop Production

No two days are ever the same here at Creekside Nursery, and the heat isn’t slowing us down either.  Our propagation grower, Jessica Watson, is hard at work this year taking cuttings, planting seeds, and dividing plants to produce larger quantities and build our inventory.  At Creekside Nursery we make every effort to be as self-sufficient as possible.  Propagating our own stock helps our availability remain constant year round.

Jessica pushes to grow plants in all conditions: wind, rain, heat, and even in cold temperatures.  She experiments with growing different plants at different times of the year to find the best growing season and ideal conditions for each plant.  Seed selection and cutting selection play an integral part in the percentage rates of success of the plants as well.  She also experiments with different types of wood when taking cuttings (e.g. hardwood, semi-hardwood, and/or softwood) all times of the year.

She always strives to cut in peak season for each plant, but the high demand for plants pushes her to take cuttings out of season.  “We grow perishable commodities, and we’re dealing with Mother Nature.  You can’t expect to get 100% success rate all the time with every plant, but we sure do strive for it!” Jessica Watson.
