Enjoying the garden again !
The returning rain in some areas and cooler temperatures are working their magic to wipe away the memory of one of the most brutal summers on record. Rains have brought rejuvenation to the plants that have survived and hope for those so stressed by the ordeal. Fall is a great time for plantings of all kinds and we begin to formulate a plan to liven up those tired, beaten landscapes . The stress of summer heat won't be felt now for about 6 months giving us a rare window here to use cool-season color plants. We are fortunate to have a few trees that give us a blaze of color , the nandinas turn red, the ornamental grasses give us that soft wheaten color. Most noticeable are the big color changeouts that are coming to our public and private areas. We enjoy our flowers and look forward to reworking those beds with new, fresh, bright plantings.
Take this time, whether in commercial or residential settings, to work that soil ! Color plants are only as good as the soil they are growing in. Replenish the soil with organics such as composts, peat moss, manures, etc. Work in a high quality time-release fertilizer along with some fresh soil mix to give that area the nutrients it will need to send up that blaze of color that will turn heads, elicit compliments and perhaps insure not only contract renewals but generate those desirable NEW contracts . Top it all off with a nice layer of fresh mulch and stand back and admire your work. We have high expectations of these tiny little pots of green, not to mention the expenditure of time and money. The effort here will be highly rewarded.
Creekside Nursery produces a variety of time honored winners to suit your needs. We offer some of the true classics and are constantly scanning the horizons for new and improved varieties.
